Membership Policies
As a big buddy in the mentorship program, members must agree to abide by the following membership policies. Failure to uphold these rules will lead to verbal/written warnings and subsequent offenses may lead to removal from the mentorship program.
- Follow all the rules stated in the safety waiver regarding proper interaction with children.
- Make every effort to attend each buddy event. We obviously understand if a situation such as an illness comes up, but if a person cannot attend an event, he or she must notify his or her buddy and notify the CCB staff via email (to chinacarebruins@gmail.com) at least 2 days (48 hours) before the buddy event.
- Members cannot miss more than 2 unexcused events throughout the school year. If a member is absent for two unexcused buddy events in a year, he oir she will be removed from the mentorship program.
- However, if the person’s little buddy cannot make an event, then the member is excused from coming, and the absence will not be counted against him/her.
- Members must volunteer in at least one fundraising/outreach/education event per quarter. Members can view their service record online on the website.
- Members must attend all of the monthly general meetings unless there is a schedule conflict.
- Members are encouraged to keep in regular contact with their buddy outside of buddy events with the permission from the buddy’s parent(s).
